Introduction
The
GED testing service has chosen the Casio fx-260 calculator for the GED 2002
tests. As an educator with teaching
experience in Junior High, High School and Adult Education mathematics courses,
I realize the importance of instructing students in the use of
calculators. Many students have not
been exposed to the advanced calculators of today’s technological society and
are unable to utilize a calculator to its fullest capability. The purpose of teaching adults to use the
calculator is not solely to master the use of the Casio fx-260 but to develop
skills in technology that can be applied to other technological needs in
today’s society. The skills developed
in utilizing the fx-260 is a stepping stone for the skills needed in higher
education and workplace technology as adult education continues to focus on
lifelong learning
The
following materials cover the calculator’s functions in correspondence with the
GED mathematics curriculum materials.
It is not meant to be a complete guide for the use on a Casio
fx-260. Please refer to the fx-260
instruction sheet for further information.
This material is to be used to supplement to your current GED 2002
curriculum. It does not teach the
mathematical concepts but shows how to utilize a calculator as a tool for
learning with your current GED lessons.
